Common Reception Issues & Their Causes

Not all issues require an Antenna Pro call out. Save yourself some time and potentially money, have a read of some common easy to fix issues below:

  • Power Supply -  Amplifier's are a common component in home antenna systems. The amplifier itself generally sits under the antenna on the mast, but the component that powers the amplifier, the power supply, is usually located at a TV point inside the house. If you suddenly loose all TV channels, try searching your TV outlets for a part that looks similar to the one pictured above. If this component is switched off or has fallen out of the TV point, that is your problem.
  • TV Retune - While it is not exactly common, TV's can all of a sudden loose their channel tuning. This can happen after a software update or a power surge. If you have all of a sudden lost all TV channels, try doing an auto tune on your TV. Auto tune can usually be found in your TV's 'menu' and then 'DTV tuning' or 'CH tuning'
  • Try A Different TV - Like all electronic devices, TV's don't last forever. The digital tuner (the part that receives the channels) can also be very sensitive to power surges. When the digital tuner becomes faulty your TV will display no channels. This can happen suddenly or come on slowly in the form of pixelation that gets worse. To test if it is in fact a faulty digital tuner, try a different TV from a different room or borrow one from a friend.
